WHY MEXICO?

As an international organization the leadership of CRM is committed to holding World Wide Conference outside of the United States when possible.  Our location team along with our agent did a comprehensive search that included possible sites in Middle East, Indonesia, Spain, Italy, Costa Rica and Mexico.  The information below influenced our decision to choose Mexico.

Value

We are always looking to be good stewards and find a property that will meet our needs at a reasonable price.  As we searched properties in different parts of the world many countries were eliminated simply based on the fact that cost would be prohibitive.  Mexico relies heavy on the United States for tourist dollars.  As we all know the economy in the U.S. has experienced a bit of a crunch in recent years, this has made our neighbors to the south willing to negotiate great deals and we have benefitted from this with a great value at the Fiesta Americana Condesa property.

A Property That Will Meet Our Needs

We (CRM and our CoNext Partners) have now grown big enough to prevent us from using a small, off-the-beaten path property or hotel. Our goal is always to find that place that is small and intimate, but we just don't fit.  So for this event, just as in 2010, we have found a medium size property that fosters connection without sacrificing the space we need to allow adequate meeting and recreational facilities for all of the different expressions, teams and families that make up today's CRM and CoNext Partners.  Oh and it does not hurt that the beautiful Mexican Caribean sea is just out the door!

Travel Cost

While the 2010 World Wide Conference was nothing short of amazing and the price we paid for the quality of rooms, food and service we received was a deal for sure, we must admit that the airfares to get to an island in Malaysia were a bit steep.  Mexico will be a significantly less for the vast majority of our staff.   The relative bargain the majority of our people will get on travel certainly played a role in our decision.

Incentives

As mentioned above, the economy has made Mexico a good value.  Add to that the fact that the government of Mexico has a created an incentive to encourage tourism.  This program is a Zero VAT (Value Added Tax) incentive that is offered to non Mexican organizations and it results in a significant discount for each of us (assuming you are not a Mexican citizen).

Beauty

It feels a bit silly to try to convince you that it is beautiful on the Yucatan Peninsula.  Just take a peek at the photos Peter Schrock took during our scouting trip and please realize this, as good as Peter is behind a camera, it does not compare to being there in person.
